What about the Weather?
It's a question we are asked all the time. And our answer is always- Ireland is really beautiful, any time of year. We live in a small country with an Atlantic climate, and that means we can get wet and windy days all year round- or sunny blue sky days - all year round. January can be frosty, snowy or wet, or dry and sunny, or a bit of both. We don't know, but it does not stop us and it shouldn't stop you.
A trip in January won't suit everyone. If you can't bear the thought of being outdoors to see the Wild Atlantic waves crashing against a Donegal beach, or gathering around a peat fire, hot whiskey in hand, listening to a fiddle player, then this isn't for you. Our trips will suit people who are keen to get a sense of Irish culture by exploring the outdoors by day and indoors by night. We think that the landscapes and seascapes really reveal their majesty in the winter months, and at a time when there are no tour buses and crowds, and people have time to talk. Dublin is also lovely in winter time, and again, less crowded.
Ireland's beauty has been created by sun and rain and salt and bog and wind and wave, and it's what we got! Dress well for weather and immerse yourself in it, it can be the most exhilarating and rewarding experience.
