7 Days of Environmental
Action on the Wild Atlantic Way

Going Green in Ireland:
September 1-10, 2023

What better place to “go green” than on the Emerald Isle? Experience the rugged and beautiful Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland's west coast where we'll spend time exploring rolling green landscapes, seascapes, forests, and waterfalls while learning about the ecology of the area and how we can all protect our precious natural outdoor spaces. We'll have the opportunity to try outdoor activities like pony trekking in the beach dunes or learning to surf in Ireland's surf capital, Bundoran, named one of the top ten surf spots in the world by National Geographic! We'll visit castles and ruins and will be immersed in Irish culture, music, history, and folklore and the famously friendly hospitality of the locals. We'll engage with Green Education Ireland, a grassroots sustainability and resiliency movement that offsets carbon emissions with rewilding and tree planting projects. We’ll also visit community gardens and spectacular seaside gardens, enjoy delicious farm-to-table meals, and learn about local foods and sustainable growing methods, including efforts to grow in harmony with natural systems and increase biodiversity and food security. This is a unique opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of “green” Ireland!

Scenic locations

Untouched and virtually unexplored, this ruggedly beautiful and remote part of Ireland is known as the Wild Atlantic Way. We take you to different landscapes and seascapes, bog, dunes, gardens, forests & more. We know where all the great places are- we will bring you!

Classes and chat

Alongside the daily field trips, our expert teachers will talk about links between the landscapes, folklore, custom and tradition, environmental policy and sustainability in Ireland. You will learn a lot about the traditional and the contemporary and how they are inextricably linked.

Community

You will meet and work on the community environmental projects designed to offset carbon emissions and provide education and hands-on experience for locals and visitors. You'll see- and sample- delicious farm-to-fork foods in local restaurants.
